Fractures

Cats often fracture different bones in their bodies due to accidents, road traffic injuries or falling; and unlike humans they cannot completely rest the limb. Many cats will have the bones stabilised and fixed with pins and plates.

This may cause a degree of lameness, pain, swelling and disuse of the limb.

How can I help:

-Reduce pain

-Encourage correct bone repair and healing

-Reduce atrophy and build up muscle in appropriate areas

-Reduce scar tissue that could restrict the limb

-Increase circulation and blood flow

-Nerve degeneration (If nerves have been affected)

-ROM range of motion exercises

-Weight bearing exercise
